Single Family Construction
Overview

Single Family Construction

Your home is the project you live inside of, so the experience of building it matters as much as the result. We run single-family work with one project lead, a shared schedule, and communication you don't have to chase — because a remodel you live through should be predictable, not stressful.

We take on both new construction and renovation. On a new build we manage the full scope from foundation to finish; on a renovation we work carefully around the existing structure, preserving the character of an older home while bringing systems, layout, and finishes up to how you actually live now.

What we build

Single Family options we deliver.

Custom new construction

Ground-up homes managed end-to-end — foundation, framing, systems, and finishes — delivered on a schedule and budget you can plan around.

Additions & second stories

Adding square footage where you need it most, structurally integrated and detailed so the new work reads as part of the original home.

Whole-home renovations

Top-to-bottom remodels that modernize layout, systems, and finishes while respecting the bones and character of an existing house.

Kitchen & bath remodels

High-craft kitchens and bathrooms — custom millwork, careful tile and stone, and the trade coordination these detail-heavy rooms demand.

How Burton works

One project lead. Clear decisions. Fewer handoff gaps.

Whether Burton is guiding the project from an early idea or building from plans already underway, one experienced project lead stays at the center from planning through closeout.

01

Early clarity

We surface site, scope, and permit considerations early, before they turn into surprises down the line.

02

Connected planning

We keep the owner, architect, consultants, city, and construction team aligned as the project moves forward.

03

Disciplined construction

Burton manages trades, schedule, inspections, communication, and changes throughout the build.

04

Complete closeout

We finish punch-list work, final inspections, documentation, and warranty handoff before the project is considered complete.

Frequently asked

Single Family questions, answered.

Do you take on both renovations and new construction?
Yes. We build ground-up custom homes and we renovate existing ones — including additions, second stories, and full gut remodels. Many of our projects combine the two, such as a major renovation paired with a new addition.
Can we live in the house during the remodel?
Often, depending on scope. During pre-construction we plan phasing, dust control, and which systems go offline when, so you know up front what living through the project will look like and we keep disruption to a minimum.
Do I need an architect, or can you handle design?
Either works. We collaborate closely with your architect and designer, or we can bring one of ours into the project. Getting the builder involved during design helps catch budget and constructability issues before they become change orders.
How do you keep the project on budget?
We lock a fixed scope before construction and price it in detail, so the number you finance against is the number you build to. Change orders are priced fairly and transparently, and we flag cost drivers early rather than at the end.
How long does a whole-home renovation take?
It depends on scope and permitting, but most whole-home renovations run several months. We give you a real schedule during pre-construction and hold weekly walkthroughs so progress is visible the whole way through.
