The East Bay is home. Our office is in Richmond, and most of our ADUs, whole-home remodels, and additions are within a short drive of it. We know the older housing stock and hillside lots of Berkeley and Oakland, and we have working familiarity with the ADU and permitting processes across these cities — the kind of local knowledge that keeps a project moving through plan check.

Across the Richmond–San Rafael Bridge, Marin brings its own realities: hillside and downslope lots, septic and well considerations, wildfire-zone requirements, and design review that takes the look of a home seriously. We build additions, remodels, and ADUs that respect those constraints rather than fight them.

San Francisco construction is its own discipline — SF Planning review, neighbor notification, party walls, and the realities of working on Victorian, Edwardian, and row-house homes on narrow lots with no side access. We handle whole-home renovations, additions, and ground-floor and garage ADU conversions where every square foot and every delivery has to be planned.

The South Bay pairs some of the strongest ADU demand in the state with lots that can actually hold one — and a wave of larger remodels and additions on mid-century housing stock from Sunnyvale to San Jose. We bring the same planning, coordination, and finish quality down to Santa Clara County that we built our reputation on in the East Bay, with working familiarity with each city’s ADU and permitting processes.

Sacramento is familiar ground: co-founders Daniel and Gabriel met at Sacramento State, and Gabriel spent years overseeing construction projects across the region — including work with UC Davis — before founding Burton. We take on select ADU projects there where the site, scope, and budget are a strong fit, with the same planning, coordination, and finish quality that drive our Bay Area work.
